Forthcoming Walks

Saturday 28th December 2024

Chiltern Adventure

Event Type: Group Walk.

Region: Southern England

Distance: 17 miles

Start Time:  9:30

Route: Princes Risborough (train departs Marylebone 08.38). Heading away from the hills on a disused railway, then past Waldridge Manor to the Aylesbury Ring, on that to Clanking, then Ellesborough, Beacon Hill and the Chilterns back to Princes Risborough.

Notes: As the weather forecast is currently fine I fancy a day around the Chilterns. Anyone who wishes to join me on my exploration of the route I have in mind is welcome. It isn't recced, so come prepared with food and drink for the day and a head torch just in case things don't go to plan.

New Year Hangover Buster. City Walls & Churches of London

Event Type: Group Walk.

Region: Southern England

Distance: 11 miles

Start Time:  11:00

Route: Meet at Monument Column just outside Monument Underground Station. Spiral Walk at an easy pace to finish back at Monument.

Lunch Bring a sandwich or snack or join me for breakfast. Most food outlets in the City will be closed. Assistance dogs only please.

Notes: Start the New Year on this varied and informative walk. Of course there will a quiz to stretch your minds as well as your legs. This will be a gentle introduction to the walking New Year. Note late start and shorter distance. A thorough exploration of the Roman/Medieval City of London including walls, churches, gardens, alleyways and much more. A must for history buffs or for anyone curious to know how you can possibly get a walk of 11 miles within 1 square mile without any repetition.
I hope walkers will join me for a hearty breakfast, from 0930 onwards, at the following exclusive hostelry (Wetherspoons of course) with fabulous views of the Tower of London. It is a 10 minute walk from Monument. The Liberty Bounds 15 Trinity Square, Tower Hill, City of London, EC3N 4AA (They assure me that they will be open at 9am).
