London LDWA

Dear all

As usual, there seems to be a lot going on this week – though sadly no astronomical phenomena by way of extra excitement.

(I guess the clouds might have lifted briefly to allow some of you to get a glimpse of the eclipse on Friday – but try as I might the cloud was just too impenetrable to allow even a hint of the aurora we were supposed to see on Wednesday).

Anyway, coming back to earth, this Saturday, Rob is leading a 20-miler through some of London's best parks, which if the dry weather holds a bit longer, could be one of our first mud-free walks of the year (though don't hold me to that..).   The spring flowers are just beginning to come through now, so it should be a bit of a horticultural delight.   As usual, all the details are at the bottom of this email.

Looking a little further forward, Paul has asked me to let everyone know a bit more about his forthcoming Liverpool and Lake District weekends away - and IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP!   Read on for more details..

  • If you are still thinking of joining either of these London Group trips listed here, the YHAs are now nearly full in both places so don't delay booking if you've not already booked! Both trips are well supported and promise some good walks and wacky sightseeing in historic Liverpool. You're still welcome to join on if you are free those times in April and June. There are other options to stay in both places but Saturday nights do get busy!

And finally - a year ago tomorrow, I set off on a 1,500 mile backpacking trip from Land's End to John O'Groats.   To mark the occasion, I have updated the website I wrote as I was walking, so it now has a lot more background to the walk, as well as all my daily blogs and a set of downloadable GPX files.  If you want to take a look, click here.

So - happy reading, and have a great week!

Cheers

Adam
