London LDWA

Here we are with London Group's first newsletter of 2024, a year in which I hope we get somebody to take over doing our weekly missive to our members!

NOTICES

1. New members: A warm welcome to the following new Primary members - Hannah Bashir, Barry Gerhold & Claire Foley, Alec Knowles, Magnus Ross and Andrew Sinclair; and the following new Associate members - Annika Davidson, Sunil Fernandes, Maram Naffouj, Josh Ord-Hume, Terry Ward and Adrian Waters.

2: LDWA London's Eager Beaver Awards 2023: These go firstly to Keith Mills, who of the 81 social walks out of the 90 organised last year for which we received a register featured on 49 of them, walking a cumulative 835.5 recorded miles. Next highest was Dave Thomas with 31 walks (404.7 miles). The second one is to Ron WIlliamson, who led no less than 17 walks of these 90.

3: Trip to Morocco. LDWA member Hafida Sarachi from Thames Valley, who some of you will have met on July's Midsummer on the Downs walk, is organising a couple of trips to Morocco in the autumn, and has contacted me to offer members of London Group the chance to have a place on these. These will run on September 30 to October 9 and October 5 to October 14, and cost around £600pp on a sharing basis, plus the cost of flights. If you want more information let me know and I can provide that. Also, if you'd be interested in such a trip to be organised for members of this group in due course (possibly 2025), let me know so I can gauge whether there is any viability of exploring this option.

Indeed, if the idea of a London Group trip away somewhere at some point, whether for a weekend or longer, would be of interest I'd be interested to hear from you.
