Forthcoming Walk

I 2 I Adventure: Icknield Way, Linear

Sat 2nd Dec 2023

Distance

18ml.
Start Time
08.49
Route
Meet at Hitchin station. Train departs Kings Cross 8.16, Finsbury Park 8.24 Finish at Royston station aiming for 16.38 train. Please note the train details have been revised since the walk was first put on the website.

A change of definition with letter I giving the opportunity to explore a section of an LDP. North of Hitchin is Ickleford where we join the Icknield Way and follow this with some deviations through quiet Hertfordshire countryside, villages and towns. Anyone wanting a shorter walk can bail out at Letchworth or Baldock or Ashwell which are all on the same train line

General Notes
Average pace of 2.5 miles per hour. Come prepared for adventure, variable weather, and transport challenges. It is very likely that there will be some overgrown and some very muddy paths. Buy returns to Royston. Bring a torch, food and drink, picnic stops only, woodland facilities. Very helpful but not essential to send your name and membership number in advance in case there are last minute changes to arrangements. Text or WhatsApp walk leader

Our Chair was out on a walk which will be going onto the social walks programme in a future autumn.

He's hoping we'll be as lucky with the weather as he was on Saturday.

Finally,.if you bump into our Webmaster Deborah she's highly likely to mention she was in the Himalayas
