2) Founders 2023 – REQUEST FOR MARSHALL’S - SATURDAY 21 October 2023 The Founders Challenge Walk is taking place on Saturday 21 October this year, entries for the event have been open since 1st June. We need volunteers for the HQ and the 3 checkpoints. In addition to our loyal, repeat marshals we need more people to ensure the event goes well. The HQ is key as it is the start and finish point and we serve meals to the returning walks. Although the day is form 07.00 to 19.00 volunteers are welcome to do shifts. For further information please email: chris.founders.challenge@gmail.com. Information which is helpful to share to Chris is: mobile, available times, are you travelling by car, are you pacer trained, are you a first aider and what you would like to do on the day.

PLEASE NOTE BELOW - as a group we are reliant on members to volunteer to contribute to help the group run smoothly.  Currently the newsletter is due to stop next week so if anyone feels they could become the  new editor please do contact me.  I am only stepping down because with retirement comes freedom to travel and between now and Christmas I will be away for 3 months and will be unable fulfill the role.

Master & Apprentice
Photo: Jerome Ripp

Jerome Ripp and Barry Eade in front of All Saints Church  in the Old Town in Hastings.  Jerome has led 137 walks and was kindly supporting Barry who was leading his first.  Coincidently, Hastings is my home town so it was great to see all the photos.

Recent London LDWA Walks

A lovely circular walk from Hastings to Pett Level and back.  Some steep ascents along the coast.  Lovely Hastings and Sussex shoreline.  The weather held out too.  Lots of photos on the Facebook group page and in due course on the website.

Out and About

Normally this photo is a landscape far from our normal stomping grounds.  However, Gordon, Lonica, Gerry and Ali deserve this celebration after successfully completing  a 220kms trek from the Alps of Slovenia to Trieste
