2) Founders 2023 – REQUEST FOR MARSHALL’S - SATURDAY 21 October 2023 The Founders Challenge Walk is taking place on Saturday 21 October this year, entries for the event have been open since 1st June. We need volunteers for the HQ and the 3 checkpoints. In addition to our loyal, repeat marshals we need more people to ensure the event goes well. The HQ is key as it is the start and finish point and we serve meals to the returning walks. Although the day is form 07.00 to 19.00 volunteers are welcome to do shifts. For further information please email: chris.founders.challenge@gmail.com. Information which is helpful to share to Chris is: mobile, available times, are you travelling by car, are you pacer trained, are you a first aider and what you would like to do on the day.

3 UPCOMING COMMITTEE VACANCIES  1) Founders Challenge Event Director: after an amazing tenure as event organiser Chris Blackwell is stepping down.  For more information please contact Chris on the email above.  2)  Newsletter Editor  after 3 years, I will be stepping down at the end of September and am more than happy to talk though what is required and how to do it.  Please contact me via the London LDWA email address.

4) Star of the Week.

Another star for Ron for organising the annual trip to the Lake District.  However every one who went was equally worthy for their excellent company and support.  Gavin for his route planning and  finding (or perhaps not as some of the ascents and descents were simply brutal). Ron is already planning next years.

Out and About

Many thanks for this weeks contribution from Kate with a lovely view of the Nidderdale Way from Brimham Rocks.  She notes it was taken in a rare moment of dryness.
