The Founder's Challenge October 1 2022
The focus of this edition of the Blather is on last weeks event.
Just under 100 walkers participated in the event. Congratulations to you all. The normal number of marshals was depleted by the train strike with 11 members stepping up to manage the checkpoints and the route, many thanks to you all. As with many challenge events there are always a number of stories which get better with the telling. One such story involved 2 walkers who wanted to get a prompt start and set off at a pace following the 30 mile GPS route. Unfortunately, not checking the route description led them to "do" the route the wrong way round. This led to them arriving at CP 3 before it opened and CP1 after it closed. In true LDWA style however, they fully enjoyed their day and have confirmed they will back in 2023 "to do it right".
The Capital Challenge

Star of the Week
Several members including Nigel, Don and Tara have all nominated Chris Blackwell for our Star of the Week. He went over and above to make the event a success having to deal with a series of challenges with calm and patience. Well done Chris!
