NOTICES

1) Call for volunteers for the 25th Founders’ event on 1st Oct 2022   this key event cannot happen without the fantastic volunteers that help each year.  Information for volunteers is available here https://bit.ly/3NvLjl5 there are lots of roles both in the different checkpoints and out on the course.  All the details are there.   Those of you who wish to volunteer please complete the form https://bit.ly/3NwmPZa and return it to Chris.

2) New Members Welcome to the following new primary members: James Bowden, William Petty and  Normah Anderson.  We also welcome the  following new Associate Members  Deborah Kingston, Chris Hill and Ann Irish. Associate members please do share any walks you do in your local area either on the London group Facebook page or direct to me for our Out and About section of the newsletter.

3) VANGUARD WAY ASSOCIATION  Many London Group members have walked the 66-mile Vanguard Way from Croydon to Newhaven.  For 40 years this outstanding trail has been managed informally by members of the Vanguards Rambling Club, but the time has come to safeguard its future by setting up a formal association.  The inaugural meeting will take place at 2.30 pm on Saturday 28 May at St Matthew’s Church in Croydon, and members of London Group are welcome to attend.  There will be a short morning walk with lunch stop, and the meeting will be followed by a demonstration of a new Vanguard Way Photoguide app.  For more details please email Colin Saunders colin@vanguardway.org.uk.

If you have an opportunity to join a recce walk there is always a potential for surprises. In this case Bola and I were shocked to see we were in fact walking in Gloucestershire.
