12 miles through Epping Forest to Leyton Flats and then 2 miles on to finish at the bandstand in Coronation Gardens, Leyton. We will have a short stop at Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge (toilets) and a break at 9.5 miles in or by Humphry’s Café in Highams Park.
I will be finishing the walk in Coronation Gardens Leyton which is approximately 14.5 miles from Epping Station and hoping to arrive there between 2.00 - 2.30pm.
(Leyton Central line Station is a 0.3 mile walk along the High Road (against the flow) and the train (every 5 minutes) takes 24 minutes to Epping. )
But a more pleasant short walk will be with Steve who will be will be taking the walk on to Stratford Station (Central line 28 minutes to Epping) via the Olympic Velodrome and Olympic Rings. If you are parking at Bell Common and need directions from Epping Station (1 mile) please ask me on the day.
Sunday 10th March: Essex Walker Marshals’ Walk
Sunday 17th March: Magna Carta Walk. 17 miles 9am, Castle Hedingham. Park in Bayley St. opposite the castle (CO9 3DG) Leader: Mike Wheatley : 07455 124631 mikewheatley3@yahoo.com
Two castles, eight miles and 809 years of history! The Magna Carta Walk is 17 miles long between Castle Hedingham & Clare and then back to Castle Hedingham. It retraces the route that would have been taken by messengers of two of the principal rebels in the lead up to the revolt. Lunch stop in Clare; picnic lunch in Clare Country Park recommended, but Clare also has a small cafe, a Co-op & pubs. Like the medieval messengers, we'll do the Magna Carta Walk both ways in a day. This is a flat walk, with two stiles and a mix of good cinder track and footpaths. Dogs welcome.
Friday 22nd – Monday 25th March: Bannau Brycheiniog Away Weekend
Friday 29th March: Good Friday Walk with Eddie and Linda. 16 miles. 9am, Victoria Road car park Rayleigh,SS6 8EL
