Mid January 2024

Stansted Stagger

What a great  day! Lovely sunshine, not too much mud (by Stagger standards anyway) and another new route!  Thank you to everyone who took part in or helped on the Stansted Stagger last Sunday. The results are here, and there are lots of pictures in our photo album Essex & Herts LDWA - Stansted Stagger 2024.

Our next challenge event is the Essex Walker – see the note from Gill Struthers below

Essex Walker

Sunday 14th April 2024

If you have enjoyed recent Essex & Herts challenge events -  or even if you are brand new to challenge walking - you will be delighted to know that entries open on Monday 15th January for our next big Challenge- The Essex Walker.
Essex Walker is a biennial challenge and following the success of the 2022 event we will be returning to the Heritage Centre on Galleywood Common as our HQ. There the similarities end as Peter Tremain has devised yet another new route, this time exploring the maze of bridleways and footpaths south of Chelmsford and a scenic circular tour of Hanningfield Reservoir.  The event offers both 27 and a 17 mile routes and the entry fee is just £15.  Galleywood Common is located a mere half mile from junction 16 of the A12 and is also easily accessible from the A414 and other major road connections from London , North Essex, the South East and East Anglia. The A12 affords easy access to the M25/11 motorways.

See link for further details and to how to enter    SiEntries: Essex Walker

We need a number of marshals to help make the event happen. If you are able to help marshal on the day we really need you -  so please contact Gill on 07591 971797 or by email at: gillastruthers@hotmail.com.  No previous experience is necessary as we work as a team and there will be many seasoned friendly marshals around to help you. You will also have the opportunity to walk the event yourselves at either distance as we will be running a special marshals‘ challenge walk on Sunday 10th March along the same lines as the main event.
Hoping to hear from you soon
Best wishes, Gill

That's all  for this update,

Happy Walking
