Exmoor, Selworthy, staying at HF Holnicote House  28^th - 31^st March 2025   

Spectacular, well organised walks, good food and accommodation and great company come guaranteed on an E&H away weekend. Glorious weather is a ‘hoped for’ bonus. The groups recent trip to Minehead exceeded both sets of expectations.
35 friends stayed at the Selworthy HF hotel and, after a Friday afternoon local walk from the hotel, enjoyed a first night Prosecco reception celebrating E&H 50th anniversary  followed by Lizzie’s real fun quiz. (I feel modestly compelled at this point to mention that my victorious team won a chocolate Freddo Easter egg each!)
Saturday’s 18 miler, devised by John C and lead by Peter T followed the SW coastal path westwards to Porlock Weir, returning inland via Selworthy Beacon.
Sunday offered a 15 or 20 miler ably lead by Tim and Eva from the Devon and Cornwall group. Lovely Exmoor countryside and  learning lots about life on the moor in Lorna Doone country.
Some of the group enjoyed a fourth  shorter walk from Dunster Castle on Monday morning before reluctantly driving home.
A weekend like this requires a huge amount of time and effort and thanks go to John, Lizzie, Peter  and ‘Devon & Cornwall LDWA’ for planning and leading the walks.
The biggest and most heartfelt thanks from us all go to Lizzie. She single handedly organised the hotel booking and all the finances that entailed, devised two hugely entertaining quizzes and sorted do many other things like prosecco and helium balloons and gifts for walk leaders. This amazing lady has already promised to take the lead for next year’s weekend to HF Church Stratton in Shropshire. Thank you, Lizzie.
