Car Parking - information for walk leaders

 Where should my walk start?

Traditionally, social walk leaders have tried to run walks from a spot where there is free car parking. With many councils and parks now introducing charges and with increased parking restrictions on public roads, it is becoming harder to find somewhere to park cars free for the duration of a walk.

Some venues kindly allow us to use their carparks without charge - but if you are finding it difficult to find a good spot for several cars or if parking on roads could cause congestion - our group holds a budget designed to enable walks to go ahead. If you are asked for a small donation for parking by a village hall, church, community centre or likewise, please contact our walks secretary Lizzie who will confirm if it’s possible to make a donation and explain the procedure for claiming reimbursement. However, we should still endeavour to find free parking as a first option.  Walkers must pay their own parking charges where walks start from public or other car parking areas where parking machines operate. It’s good practice to advise walkers if charges apply.
