Seventeen walkers from Essex & Herts and Norfolk & Suffolk groups enjoyed a 20 mile walk from Stoke by Nayland on Sunday 28th June. Compared to recent record June temperatures we all agreed 26degrees felt just a tad on the cool side! Throughout the day we meandered just like the River Stour through Essex and Suffolk and the beautiful early summer countryside. Luck was with us today as both our Special Constables were available for viewing and thanks to Richard Haynes the first was reunited with his missing hand. It would have been a shame to see this particular copper unarmed! We enjoyed delicious ice creams and iced coffee compliments of LDWA at Flatford Mill, lunch back in Essex in Dedham and visited St Mary’s church to view our second Special Constable- a rare religious painting by THE John Constable before returning to our cars.
