• The first LDWA walk from the new station at Beaulieu Park with its huge car park and ongoing development.
• The splendid avenue of trees (grade 1 listed) leading to the palace of Beaulieu once the residence of King Henry 8th, the remnants of which are now New Hall School.
• The Cheerful Chai at Broomfield for a much-needed morning break as the heat of the day was making its mark
• Writtle, once voted the prettiest village in Essex, with its village green (brown?), pond, 1000-year-old church and many period cottages.
• Hylands Park, our lunch stop, with its pleasure garden, renovated house and vast parkland, loos, cafe and a water tap much appreciated.
• Part of the old Race Course on Galleywood common, the only Race Course with a church in the middle.
  Sandon Green with its great tree providing shade to everyone.
• A final quiet stretch along the Chelmer and Blackwater navigation. An ideal finish to a great day out with great company.
