Stevenage to Biggleswade 18/07/26

This was a joint walk for BBN, E/H and London groups.
A large drop in temperature from the intense heat of late. the cooler, fresher air much appreciated.

Highlights of the day
  • Leafy old town Stevenage with its traditional architecture in contrast to the massive housing development just beyond.
  • Hertfordshire way to the quiet village of Willan, hydration break at the church
  • A footpath route through Letchworth Garden city with the UK's 1st roundabout
  • The massive Fairfield Hall estate centred on a green brick Victorian asylum now converted to a new town with an old look.
  • A watery afternoon with the Kingfisher Trail along the river Hiz, tour of Henlow Bridge Lakes, and water mills
