A quick mid-month reminder of our upcoming walks. Our calendar is looking rather empty so please contact Lizzie with future social walk dates and ideas. Lizzie would also welcome some entries to the photo competition.

Essex Walker Challenge Event
Challenge Event - 26 or 18ml. all to finish by 6pm. From Blackmore Village Hall, 9 Ashes Road CM4 0QT (GR TL599021). This is now full, enter via SI entries to be on the waiting list.
- Sun 8th November
Marshalls walk on the Stansted Stagger 25mile route. Details tbc.
- Sunday 6th December Secret Santa
Details tbc – please check the website for the latest.
- Christmas lunch Thursday 10th December
Following last year’s lovely day, we have once again booked the White Hart Inn Margaretting for the Essex & Herts Christmas meal. We will sit down to eat at 1pm. Peter T has offered to arrange an optional walk first from the pub, timings will be confirmed closer to the day.
There are some places left so to reserve yours please message the E&H Sec email address essexandherts@ldwa.org.uk and we will send you the menu and deposit details. The deposit will be £10 per person, your balance to be paid on the day direct to the pub.
If you have booked a place, please make your meal selection via the link provided as soon as possible please.

Group Walk, 9am start.
Circular route from Ayot Green, AL6 9AA (TL221140). Map Explorer 182. Elevenses stop at Crusader's cricket pavilion at about 5.5 to 6 miles. Tables and chairs outside each year so far. If damp a small overhanging cover. Lunch at Tewinbury Farm complex. Toilets and cafe. Usually sufficient tables outside. About 9 to ten miles. No Tea stop as about 4 miles back to start from Tewinbury
Warm mince pies for all at start. Plus gf if notified. Let Leader know re mince pies for pre purchase

25th Stanstead Stagger Challenge Event
Starting and finishing at St John’s Church Hall, Memorial Gardens, Chapel Hill, Stansted Mountfichet. Entry limit 200 and this event does sell out so get your entries in soon on SI entries.

Shotley Peninsula 50 Mile Challenge
A quick update for those of you who have been asking about the return of our ever-popular Shotley Peninsula challenge walk. It is indeed returning to the stage in 2027 so please save the dates of Saturday 11th/ Sunday 12th September 2027. As plans develop you will be able to find outline details on our website (Challenge Events tab) and through our regular group emails. There are a few changes, most notably that it will be jointly hosted with our friends in Norfolk and Suffolk and will have a new HQ which couldn’t be more apt as we are using Shotley Village Hall! The circular route will be about 52 miles long and as well as retaining most of the beautiful countryside associated with this walk, it will also include a new stretch of the King Charles 111 coastal path and a few new twists and turns. We will of course need a team of marshals so do let us know if you can help out. A marshals walk is planned for Saturday 21st/ Sunday 22nd August 2027.
The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2028 Millstone Hundred. Please bear with us while we work on the final details!
