Three Forests Way

Essex, Hertfordshire

95 km / 59 miles
A route devised by the West Essex Group of the RA to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee. It links three Essex forests, although only eight miles of the Way are through them. The Way visits Hatfield Forest and via White Roding, the Roding valley and Abridge, the Hainault Forest and via Loughton, Epping Forest. The Stort Valley is followed back to the finish. Strider News - December 2021 (Publication Update)

Peter Aylmer has added to his portfolio of publications with the first dedicated guidebook to the Three Forests Way which links Epping, Hatfield and Hainault Forests. Each of the forests has its own story to tell of how it has survived over the centuries.

With good public transport and easy parking, it's simple to walk the Three Forests Way either in a single visit or in shorter day stages. The book includes: detailed route guidance, with useful alternatives; colour photographs and professionally-drawn maps; historical titbits and hints and tips for transport, accommodation, food and drink.
