Macmillan Way - West: Castle Cary to Barnstaple

Devon, Somerset

A branch of the main Macmillan Way which departs from the main route at Castle Cary, crossing the Somerset Levels and the Quantocks. It can be linked with the South West Coast Path National Trail at Minehead. It then crosses Exmoor and follows the Tarka Trail to Barnstaple, again linking with the South West Coast Path. Macmillan routes thus enable a 346-mile walk across England from Boston to Barnstaple.

June 2025: A report that the riverside Path along the River Yeo in Somerset is impassably overgrown.
