Altrincham Circular

Cheshire, Gtr Manchester

A route around the town of Altrincham, passing along the district boundary to Davenport Green, through Halebarns to the Bollin and Ashley Heath, Bow Green and Little Bollington, returning via Dunham and Oldfield Brow.

In June 2026 one of our LDPs team members has re-walked this trail and produced a new GPX file, which is now available to download. A fresh route description is being worked on. However, the path is currently obstructed at Brooke Drive by a large metal fence, There is no suitable diversion. In June 2025 after a public enquiry the blocked path has been made officially into a PROW - restricted byway. However, as of June 2026 the fence has still not been removed. The Peak and Northern Footpath Society are currently taking this up with Trafford Council, so hopefully the obstruction will be removed soon. Once the fence is removed the Altrincham Circular will be fully passable and furthermore it will have been checked and verified. We should promote and encourage it's use.
