National Trail AcornPembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail

Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire

299 km / 186 miles
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail was the first National Trail in Wales. It lies mainly within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The route of this challenging National Trail follows the coastline around the county of Pembrokeshire, with brief detours away from the coast for the Milford Haven Waterway and three MOD establishments. Apart from the resort of Tenby only small settlements and a few holiday developments are encountered. The scenery provides an ever-changing contrast between the softer sedimentary rocks of the south coast, with its fine beaches, and the more resistant rocks of the rugged northern coast. The area is rich in prehistoric remains and is noted for its sea birds and seals.

Part of the Wales Coast Path:

Also designated as Sector 6 of the England & Wales Coast Path or EWCP (for which the LDWA keeps a Register of completions):

December 2023: A short stretch of the coast path 1km east of Amroth (between SN 175072 and SN 178073) has been diverted onto the adjacent road due to a landslide.

July 2024: Coppet Hall to Wiseman’s Bridge (the Tramway) near Saundersfoot. This stretch of the National Trail was closed from January 2024 until at least 17th July 2024 following two landslips. There is a footpath diversion below the road above. See https://www.walescoastpath.gov.uk/plan-your-visit/itineraries/family-walks-with-a-difference/saundersfooth

July 2024: Musselwick to St Brides (north of Marloes). The closure of the National Trail following the major cliff collapse reported in January 2024 is continuing “until further notice”. See www.westerntelegraph.co.uk/news/24054953.landslip-destroys-part-pembrokeshire-coast-path/

The LDWA National Trails Register offers certificates for completers of several British National Trails.
