South Tyneside Heritage Trail

Tyne and Wear

The South Tyneside Heritage Trail provides a 26-mile circular route from South Shields, initially south along the coast to Whitburn then inland partly following the River Don west to reach the Tyne at Hebburn, returning via Jarrow. The Trail is fairly flat and much of it paved, passing through most of the Borough's towns and villages. There is some interesting heritage and history explained on 32 panels en route.
