The Pewsey Vale Tourism Partnership has launched a new long-distance walking, cycling and riding route with the Vale of Pewsey at its heart. Set in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this circular route takes in dramatic downland, secluded woodland, sweeping valleys, farmland, country lanes, picturesque villages and sections of the Kennet & Avon Canal.

You will encounter ancient history at the earthworks of Wansdyke and experience the wildness of the downland, some of which is a National Nature Reserve.

This is mostly a multi-user route shared by walkers with cyclists and horse riders. There are some steep paths and the routes can be muddy particularly in winter.

The walking route has been divided into seven stages, with ideas on where to eat, where to stay and transport and transfer options available. Rail access is via Pewsey and Great Bedwyn stations. Trail information, including maps, gpx downloads and other useful information can be found on the website below. A promotional video of the route is available from the Visit Pewsey Vale YouTube channel link below.

The trail is the result of an extensive community project funded by the Pewsey Area Board, the Coop Community Fund and Tesco Groundwork.
