From Paglesham Eastend the seawall is followed to Lion Wharfe and the River Crouch. At South Fambridge the route turns inland to pass through Hockley before returning to the banks of the Crouch at Hullbridge where journey's end can be seen over the water. The route crosses the Crouch at Battlesbridge, passes through Woodham Fen Nature Reserve and along Fenn Creek which flows into the Crouch at South Woodham Ferrers.
