Comedy Way

Cumbria, Lancashire

51 km / 32 miles
The Comedy Way celebrates two comedy duos of the 20th century: Laurel & Hardy and Morecambe & Wise.

Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston and the route starts at the Laurel & Hardy statue in the central square. Inland paths are taken to Penny Bridge and Cartmel, with its racecourse and priory, continuing over Hampsfell to Grange-over-Sands. A short train journey is taken across the Kent estuary to Arnside.

From Arnside coastal paths lead round to Jenny Brown's Point. Leighton Moss nature reserve is crossed to reach Warton Crag and the town of Carnforth where the Lancaster Canal is taken to Hest Bank. The coastal road into Morecambe is joined and a stroll along the prom leads to the finish at the statue of Eric Morecambe, the town's famous son.
