MARSHALS NEEDED!

The 2024 Stansted Stagger on Sunday 7th January is already filling up nicely. Peter Tremain has devised a new route through north west Herts and north east Essex, with checkpoints at Brent Pelham and Quendon.  As ever, we need enough marshals to cover the start and finish and both checkpoints – so if you are able to help out at any time during the day, please let me know.  No specialist skills are required on a checkpoint – all we want is for you to be friendly, welcoming, and encouraging to our entrants.  And don’t worry if you are new to checkpointing as you will be teamed up with old hands.

There will be a supported marshals’ walk on Sunday 26th November.

And Norfolk and Suffolk LDWA group will be holding their Winter Poppyline 50 event on 10th February.  Essex and Herts have been asked to run the checkpoint at  Sheringham, which is approximately half way round the route. The checkpoint will be open on Saturday afternoon and early evening and will provide a hot meal for entrants. I’ve already had a couple of offers of help, but we still need a few more marshals.  We had brilliant support from the Norfolk and Suffolk group on both the Three Forests Way and the Shotley Peninsula 50 - this is our opportunity to return the favour.

Marshals can claim travel expenses for both these events.

Please let me know if you can help on either event (or both!) at essexandherts@ldwa.org.uk

Happy walking everyone,

Jackie  essexandherts@ldwa.org.uk
