The Angles Way is a diverse long distance trail that begins close to the coast at Great Yarmouth and follows the meandering valley of the River Waveney into the Brecks. The opening stretch covers the length of Breydon Water, an enormous RSPB Reserve to reach the Roman remains at Burgh Castle. Beyond that the trail passes the beautiful village of Somerleyton into Oulton Broad where the banks of the River Waveney are followed for over 10 Miles. The historic towns of Bungay with its medieval castle and the town of Harleston are passed through to eventually reach Diss. Just beyond the source of the River Waveney is passed at Lopham and the Little Ouse valley picked up and followed west to Knettishall Heath and beyond into the ancient town of Thetford. Here there’s a chance to visit the impressive Norman Castle and Iron Age Fort earthworks and the sensational priory ruins.
