Three Castles and an Ironmaster's House

Kent

82 km / 51 miles
A 50 mile circular route through East Sussex and Kent, discovering the hidden valleys, hills, villages and ancient trackways that make up the landscape of the beautiful and historic High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The four cornerstones of the walk are the National Trust properties of Bodiam, Sissinghurst and Scotney (the three castles) and Bateman's House, built for the prosperous ironmaster, John Brittan, but which later became the home of the writer Rudyard Kipling.
