Poole Harbour is said to be the second largest natural harbour in the world. This national treasure provides access to some stunning countryside and woodland as well as providing wonderful views around the harbour itself. It is rich in wildlife and has attractive towns and villages set in some of the best walking areas in South West England. There are six waymarked linear walks around the harbour. Each walk is described by a leaflet that can be bought from local tourist information offices, directly from Poole Harbour Trails Community Group or downloaded from the website (see below) where there are also another 15 circular walks highlighting some of the key points of the trail. The trail is waymarked at convenient spots but walkers are advised to carry the appropriate leaflet or a map of the area.

Now an award-winning community project, the trails concept was the result of the ideas and research of local walkers Peter Strudwick and Bernard Corby.
