The joy of Essex (and Kent) - this week's walking with London LDWA
London LDWA
This week features two counties guaranteed to be at their best at this time of year. The king of the pop-up walk, Ron Williamson, has come through again with a 15-miler on Wednesday designed to show you the delights of the Essex countryside between Harold Wood and Billericay. On Saturday Dave S.'s 18-mile hike is a circular starting and finishing at Wadhurst in Kent, passing through a deer farm and with glorious Bewl Water one of the features. Scroll down to the end of this Newsletter for all the practical details.

A message from East Lancs LDWA
In September 2017 the East Lancs Group ran the inaugural Red Rose 50 Challenge Event. The majority of feedback received after the event was encouraging with 63% of entrants saying they would repeat the event and another 17% a maybe.
We have made changes to the route which allows the final checkpoint to be indoor, significant improvements to the route description and the showering facilities at the finish have been upgraded.
The event is scheduled for 15/16th September 2018 but to date there are fewer than 50 entrants. In order for this event to remain in the LDWA calendar please can any London Group members who are thinking of entering to do so ASAP and definitely before 5th August to ensure that this event goes ahead.
The Midsummer Challenge On the Thames Path just after sunrise - when water bottles were still full and feet unblistered!
The Midsummer Challenge... a lot of miles later On the Thames Path at Walton, at the other end of the day, with only a few miles to go. The ice cream vans had done good business by then! Congratulations to everyone who finished our sunrise to sunset challenge, reaching Weybridge Station at 42 miles - with the sun still good to go for another hour at least.
