Reaching Axminster

Axminster can be reached by rail, bus and road. For environmental sustainability reasons, as well as limited parking, we would STRONGLY ENCOURAGE entrants to consider using public transport or to car-share. 

Rail:

All trains on the London Waterloo to Exeter railway line stop in Axminster:

The railway station is a 1.2 mile walk from the Football Club HQ. Shuttle buses will be available for participants on the Saturday morning.

Whilst the earliest train from Waterloo on a Saturday will not arrive in time for the 10am start, walkers planning to start later do have this option. It is, however, possible to arrive from Exeter in time for the 10am start. Trains do run on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Bus:

Axminster is served by buses from Exeter (44), Taunton (30), Weymouth and Bridport (X53 and X51), as well as local buses. Please note that some of these services do not operate on a Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Shuttle buses will be available to ferry participants to the HQ from Axminster railway station before the event start - please alight from the bus here. 

Road:

Axminster is easily reached by A-roads (A358, and A35) from the A303/A30.

Parking at Axminster

As indicated, parking at HQ in Axminster will be limited and you are strongly encouraged to come by public transport or to car share. 

There will be NO PARKING AVAILABLE for vehicles over 6m long and there are unlikely to be camping facilities available at HQ; there are campsites nearby. 

Travelling to or between checkpoints (supporters)

The breakfast stop in Exmouth is easily reached by rail, bus or car (with pay and display carparking available).

It is possible with some planning, to reach most of the other checkpoints by bus, although weekend availability may be more difficult. Use the interactive Devon bus map from which the map below is taken. 

Please note that the smaller lanes in East Devon can be extremely narrow and steep (and busy on a Bank Holiday weekend!) and require confidence and/or a small vehicle. Where this is true for reaching some of the more rural checkpoints, this is detailed on the individual checkpoint pages.
