General Notes
<P>100ml in 48hr. For the first time a Yorkshire 100 visits Airedale, starting from the old market town of Skipton (Aireville School, Gargrave Rd, GR SD977519) from where the route sets off following the Aire valley and the Leeds/Liverpool canal to Gargrave. Here the route turns northwards to visit Malham, Settle and Ingleton. It is then up to Ingleborough (2,372 ft), the highest point of the route. Descending to Horton-in-Ribblesdale and on to Wensleydale and breakfast at Hawes (52 miles). Returning south from Bainbridge the first Cp is at Stalling Busk which has been a Cp on two previous Dales 100s. It is then up to Stake Moss. From here it is a welcome 28 miles net descent down to Buckden then onwards down Wharfedale to Addingham. Now, leaving Wharfedale, the route turns westwards over Draughton Moor and back to Skipton. The route has been planned with a view of a high completion rate. There are just over 12,000ft of downhill and nearly 44% of the climbing is in the first 33 miles. Start: 09.00, with additional starts at 10.00, 11.00 and noon for faster walkers, joggers and runners. Maps: OL2 and OL30, or LR 98, 103 &104.
