With the final reccie now done, here are the final details; - UPDATED 14/04/2026 IN CAPITALS. • MEET IN THE CARPARK OR ON BIRDS ROYD LANE • I HAVE BEEN RELIABLY INFORMED THAT THERE IS A BUS REPLACEMENT SERVICE IN PLACE TO HALIFAX ON THE 03/05/26 SO WE WILL BE Catching the 08.22 BUS to HALIFAX TO CATCH THE 08.51 TRAIN TO TODMORDEN, arriving in Tod at 09.11 o Tickets can be bought at the station £6.40 [card only] or at https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/stations/brighouse • I shall be taking the register BY THE BUS STOP • Please note the car park is closed at the moment so please use on street parking. • There are no toilets at Brighouse station or on the walk, the nearest are in Sainsburys 10 minutes’ walk away from the station. • Please give yourself plenty of time! • If there is a problem with the train i.e. cancelled or delayed, we will put in place plan B, which is walk to Todmorden and train it back. • The walk is just shy of 25 miles (38 km) with 3985 feet (1214 m) of ascent so I would be expecting to get back to Brighouse around 18.30 • We will be having a morning stop around 8 miles, a lunch stop around 13 miles and a Mrs B stop at 19 miles.

A superb way to go walking in Calderdale - The Calderdale Way is a 52 mile (84km) walk exploring the hills, moors & valleys of Calderdale. It is an "up & down" journey with few level sections. However, the higher levels provide some exceptionally fine panoramic views

General Notes
Meet at Brighouse rlwy stn & catch the train to Todmorden & walk back to Brighouse. Train time & costs TBC a bit nearer the time. Sorry dogs not allowed

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations.
