H.M.Stanley - St. Dyfnog's Church

8 km / 5 miles
This 5 mile walk starts from the delightful medieval Welsh church, where both John Rowlands, Stanley's putative father, and James Vaughan Horne, possibly his real father where buried in 1854 and 1848 respectively. Nearby are the King's Head, a 16th C coaching inn, the Anvil Pottery almhouses built in 1729, and St Dyfnog's Holy Well, once visited by many pilgrims due to its healing properties. The walk passes Llys Farm, John Rowlands former home.
