The walk heads out to Pencraig and then goes west on very pleasant paths and lanes before heading south to pick up the River Tyne Path which it follows past the ruined Hailes Castle (once a home of Mary Queen of Scots) and then diverts for an easy ascent of magnificent Traprain Law – one of the finest hills in East Lothian. The walk then goes back to the River Tyne Path to return to East Linton
