W Yorkshire

19 km / 12 miles
From Bradford Cathedral to Shipley (3.5 miles) the route is along the Canal Road corridor. Beyond Shipley the route along the Leeds-Liverpool canal passes Saltaire village, a complete and well-preserved industrial village of the second half of the 19th century (a World Heritage Site). The route then goes up through the woodlands of Shipley Glen, over farmland and across Bingley, Burley and Ilkley Moors passing the highest part of the route near the Twelve Apostles stone circle. After Ilkley Crags the path descends to Ilkley town centre and to the start of the Dales Way at Ilkley Old Bridge on the River Wharfe.
