The Shropshire Cakes and Ale Trail is an enchanting seven-section walk through the glorious Shropshire countryside. Beginning in the Italianate hill-town of Bridgnorth, it takes walkers down the River Severn then across country to enter Cleobury Mortimer in the steps of the poet-postman, Simon Evans. Next it's over Titterstone Clee and down to the gourmet town of Ludlow, before a fascinating journey via the Aldon Gutter and Bury Ditches hillfort to the ancient Saxon town of Clun. A climb on to Offa's Dyke leads to Bishop's Castle with its two micro-breweries, then it's up again over the mysterious Stiperstones and the sheep-grazing Long Mynd into the `Little Switzerland' that is Church Stretton. Over Caer Caradoc and Wenlock Edge, walkers emerge into pretty Much Wenlock, before the final stretch through history to Bridgnorth.

Every day offers a new Real Ale pub to visit on the journey in order to savour the beer and collect a stamp in this book. Once all seven stamps have been collected, walkers can claim their free pint of Hobsons beer.

The route of The Shropshire Cakes and Ale Trail is given in detail, accompanied by diagrams and illustrated information about places passed through. The main features of each town are also described and illustrated, together with listings for Real Cakes, Real Ales and accommodation.

"A guide-book like no other, for walkers who love good food and drink."
