Review:

Amazon 2018

This superbly illustrated book describes a long-distance walk in and around the Yorkshire Dales. Starting from Leyburn, it follows the River Ure west via Aysgarth and Hawes, then swings north up the wild Mallerstang Valley to Kirkby Stephen. Turning east, the route crosses Nine Standards Rigg to join the River Swale as it makes its way to Richmond. The walk is in six stages but includes a Short Cut via Great Shunner Fell, reducing it to five days if required. Whilst clearly detailing the route, Bob Allen has plenty of time to recount stories, of ancient times and of his own experiences on the walk, in his popular and lively fashion.
