I have never asked for a discount in a shop. If the item I want is at the RRP or below I buy it, if it is not I go elswhere but the other day I seen a head torch x pounds below the RRP advertised on line at a shop that is part of a large chain but several miles away,(two hour bus ride each way on a pass costs nothing) The same torch was in a local shop that is also part of a large chain but at full RRP. For once I asked what discount was available as a member of LDWA, RA + other groups. Lo and behold, with the discount offered, the price was roughly the same as at the on line shop. A saving, both in £s and travelling time. I will be asking for discounts in future.
