I seem to remember reading somewhere, something about training and certification for walk leaders.
What a brilliant idea I thought. It's surely long overdue and one I would fully support.

However, before pressing forward it might be worth thinking about other courses from which fellow members might benefit. Might I venture to suggest:-

1. The mysterious art of writing route descriptions.
2. How to follow a GPX including the right way round.
3. Table arrangement for checkpoint leaders.
4. Walking for runners.

This list is by no means exhaustive. Please feel free to suggest others.

All off this of course throws up many questions:
Who will train the trainers?
What certification will they hold?
Will the LDWA become a Certificate Awarding Body and if so will it seek a Royal Charter?

But seriously, aren't we really just talking about guidance???
