The annual LDWA 100 is organised by volunteers. The planning can take several years and many hours of dedication in order to present a route that entrants will love and to ensure that the food provided sustains the entrants on their 100 mile journey. There are of course many other facets to organising this flagship event, bit one thing is for sure, it becomes all encompassing. The organisers of Trans-Pennine 100 were delayed by Covid-19 and in all dedicated six years of their lives to ensuring that the LDWA 100 family could enjoy the route they offered. Their selflessness should never ever be underestimated.

This video sums up their feelings at the end.

This is the final video in the Trans-Pennine 100 series and I wish to thank and applaud Simon Pipe for the work he has undertaken on behalf of everyone involved in this event. He'll be out again this year, so please do say hello if you see him!

Returning to Walk HQ whether you're a fast runner / Strider or an entrant that takes up to 48 hours to complete tbe challenge, you'll always enjoy the meal that is offered. You have burned off several calories for example!
Well, in 2022 Paul Ashman produced a curry that appealed to all entrants regardless of any dietary needs. This video celebrates his work.

The entrants in the following video have given permission for this footage to be shared.

It takes a particularly skilful person to be a sweeper on the annual LDWA 100 mile walk. They will need to demonstrate that they can navigate, are skilled in mountainous areas, are motivated, diplomatic, empathetic, have a sense of humour and are willing and able to be on their feet for long periods of time. They must also be able to deal with issues that might emerge at the back of the field with sensitivity. This video celebrates the skills of the sweepers on the Trans-Pennine 100.

As the last walkers returned to the Walk HQ on the 2022 Trans-Pennine 100, so too do our series of videos. This video celebrates the achievements of those walkers who have stayed out on their feet for two days and two nights to achieve their goal of walking 100 miles.

We have three more videos to show you with the final one being rather emotional.

Tomorrow we concentrate on the role of the sweepers but for now, enjoy this film.

The LDWA 100 event is an amazing and it brings out the very best in people. So, when one person sees that another needs moral support to finish their 100 mile quest, others do their very best to support them. Having worked hard in the breakfast checkpoint for many, many hours, when Neil Smith saw Helen Kavanagh walk in, he decided to walk with her to the finish. So, he volunteered for several hours and worked through the night serving breakfasts and then walked 38 (unplanned) miles with Helen to the end.

This video captures this story.

The second of two videos to be released today and this video focuses on that very odd postural involuntary lean that affects many of our LDWA 100 events. Pat Richardson was absolutely determined to finish and thanks to Jack Cooper she made it!

Two videos being released today. Please curb your excitement!!

The first video focuses on our entrants who are just about to start their second night without sleep as they tick off the miles towards their goal of walking 100 miles.

Our second video will be live at 4pm and will certainly feature a leaning entrant with laughter, humour and determination!

Whilst we're the Long Distance Walkers Association, perhaps we might have been called the Long Distance Runners and Walkers Association as many runners and joggers join our striders and walkers on our events. And, the 100 is no different.

This video celebrates the faster entrants on last year's Trans-Pennine 100!

Entrants on the annual LDWA 100 mile event always look forward to reaching the breakfast checkpoint. But, how many actually understand and appreciate the work that East Lancashire LDWA undertake in order to make the checkpoint as successful as it is.

A great message from Viv. How many LDWA members even consider volunteering at future events having enjoyed the event as an entrant.

Enjoy!!

The ridge on the Trans-Pennine 100 that started at Mam Tor and headed towards Hathersage was blasted by a very strong wind on the event. Entrants had to battle it hard and it added to the challenge of walking 100 miles. This video celebrates its beauty.

When people go to bed, LDWA 100 entrants walk into the night having already walked all day. Thankfully they have wonderful support from the marshals working at the checkpoints. This latest video in the Trans-Pennine 100 series focused on the first night section!

Laddow Rocks was perhaps the key spot that Trans-Pennine 100 entrants had to navigate carefully. The wind combined with a tricky descent made it memorable for many. This video focuses on Laddow Rocks alone.

The latest video in the Trans-Pennine 100 series now follows the entrants as they make their way towards Holmfirth. Many entrants will see themselves in this montage as they walk in wonderful sunshine and towards the spine of the Pennines.

The third video of the series that has been produced by Simon Pipe of the LDWA media team. This time Simon has produced a video about the self styled Kentish Tortoise, the LDWA's very own Keith Warman. Watch how he times his finish to perfection within the 48 hour time limit and in doing so came in with LDWA legend Len Fallick in 2022.
