The loop goes on the moors to the South of Castleton to reach the source of the River Esk. It leads to Danby Dale, Rosedale Head & Blakey Ridge, then passes through the remains of Esklets, a medieval sheep farm & onto Westerdale before returning to Castleton. A variety of countryside from open moorland to riverside pastures. Moderate pace

Joint walk with East Yorkshire LDWA. Please car share where possible due to shortage of parking. 2,200ft of ascent. Map OS OL26
