From Aughton the walk goes to Clieves Hill (elevation 197ft) via quiet lanes and footpaths. From Clieves Hill we walk to the Leeds-Liverpool canal heading south to Lydiate where we'll have the opportunity to view the priory ruins and the Scotch Piper Inn, a 700-year-old hostelry. We then return to Aughton with a short spell on the Leeds-Liverpool canal and along quiet lanes and footpaths. The total ascent of the walk is less than 300 feet and will be taken at an easy pace
