General Notes
This is the the Pendle Way in four circular walks, but each one is a great walk on its own. Pendle includes the former cotton-weaving towns of Nelson, Colne, Barnoldswick & Earby, & is predominantly an industrial area. The Pendle Way is a 45 mile circular walk which was developed in 1985 & covers the surrounding countryside of Pendle, including the high moorland of Pendle Hill, the rugged Millstone Grit countryside of much of the borough, & the limestone area of the north with green and lush pastoral landscape. Waymarkers feature a distinctive black witch which reminds us of the Pendle Witches of the 17th century
