General Notes
This is the the Pendle Way in four circular walks, but each one is a great walk on its own. Pendle includes the former cotton-weaving towns of Nelson, Colne, Barnoldswick & Earby, & is predominantly an industrial area. The Pendle Way is a 45 mile circular walk which was developed in 1985 and covers the surrounding countryside of Pendle, including the high moorland of Pendle Hill, the rugged Millstone Grit countryside of much of the borough, & the limestone area of the north with green and lush pastoral landscape. Waymarkers feature a distinctive black witch which reminds us of the Pendle Witches of the 17th century
