The first part, is 9 miles, to Diggle, with 2,000 ft of ascent. From Diggle the walk continues with 13 miles back to 427, the start/end point, ( but not via the canal), with a further 2,000 ft of ascent. For those familiar with the area, some new paths have been discovered, and Pots n Pans is not visited.
Alternatively, from Diggle, back to 427, there is an option for an easy flat walk along the canal, of 4 miles ( and a coffee or ice cream from Limekiln cafe) making a total of 13 miles. If anyone wishes to choose the shorter route, the section back along the canal will be self-led
