Hexham Tyne Green, Old Warden, The Wall, Simonburn, Chollerford, Acomb and returning to Tyne Green
General Notes
This is a scenic 20 mile walk in the Hexham and North Tyne area with some interesting things and viewpoints along the way. This walk doesn't have too much ascent (2500') and generally good under foot without much risk of mud or water.
Notes:
1. Lunch on lovely Simonburn green where there is shelter if need be.
2. There is a nice cafe at Simonburn. People can have the option of a fresh cuppa, an ice cream, or whatever they wish.
3. There are various route options and, depending on the group, I can vary it without affecting distance or ascent much. Carr Edge and Newbrough are two alternatives in the first half. Carr Edge has seating and shelter from trees. Lincoln's Hill and Humshaugh are two alternatives in the second half.
Please note that by attending this walk you agree to the Northumbria LDWA group rules with regards to: a) Dogs are welcome on leads, but owners must have up to date public liability insurance b) Photographs of people must be with the full consent of those people for the taking and distribution of the photographs
LDWA is run entirely by volunteers and we work hard to keep costs as low as possible. But costs are always rising so to help us avoid big increases in our modest membership fee, additional donations are always welcomed. Anyone who feels that LDWA has gone the extra mile to provide exceptional service is particularly encouraged to use this facility.
