(Thursday 28 April 2022 LANCASHIRE WAY EASTERN LOOP DAY 2
DAY 2 – Stage 3 to 5 - Foulridge (GR 888 423) to Laneshaw Bridge (GR 922 407) via Barnoldswick and Earby.
16.5 miles - 7 hours - 2,140ft. The climb up to Weets Hill is lengthy but not too strenuous and there some shorter climbs towards the end of the day.
The route begins with a short walk along the canal and then climbs up to Weets Hill via the sculptures at Duck Pond Farm. It is then down into historic Barnoldswick and then we continue along the Leeds Liverpool canal to Greenber Field, which is the highest point on the canal. From Earby we begin our journey south.
Meet at 9am and park in Laneshaw Bridge. There is ample free parking on the main road – the Keighley Road – A6068, just before the Methodist Chapel and the Pelican Crossing. Park on the south side if possible facing back to Colne. Take some of the cars to Foulridge on Warehouse Lane just 3.5 miles away. Pick up Stage 3 where we finished last week. At the end of the day collect the cars in Laneshaw Bridge and then retrieve the cars left in Foulridge.)
