Two Roses Way Part 4

Stocks Reservoir

We are now well on the way with this 100 mile walk and section four saw us striding out from Malham over to Settle and down to Slaidburn. Well OK not so much striding out as staggering up as the first six miles took us on a sharp up and over towards Malham tarn before turning down to Settle.

Settle saw us all pounce upon the naked man with relish.  No the naked man wasn't covered in relish - we take great relish in visiting tea shops even at 11am.  It took ooooh all of 20 seconds to decide between naked man and another tea shop - must be something to all this marketing malarky then!

After we had cleaned them out of cakes and coffee, we stagged on - not because of the hills this time but because of the fellwalkers cake and other delights we shouldn't have eaten.  The walk took us more gradually up over hills to a little wooded area where we lunched (yep still hungry) before we enjoyed a little woodland river hopping for the next mile as we negoiated a less walked patch.

The last couple of miles to Slaidburn were easy, with the Stocks Reservoir to our side.  It was a lovely day but quite windy, a taste what was to come this Spring as it has been quite rough at times.

Don't miss Section five in August and six in October to complete this lovely round.

If you enjoy walks divided in stages like this - feel free to suggest one for 2010 as I am always happy to lead (it's easy, it's all in the book).
