St Bega's Way August 2012

In a summer full of rain we were very lucky to have glorious sunshine throughout the three days of this walk.

The walk took us from St Bees to St Bega's Church, beside Bassenthwaite Lake near Keswick.  We walked via Cleator Moor, Ennerdale Bridge for an overnight stop at the Shepherds Inn.  Then along the lovely valley of Ennerdale, beside Lake and Forest, and up and over from Black Sail to reach Honister and down into Borrowdale.  A gentle third day took us down the Borrowdale Valley through Grange and alongside Catbells before skirting Keswick via Portinscale to reach Dodd Wood, Mirehouse and our goal of the little Church at St Bega.

It was a great route, with excellent tea shop and accommodation options along the way.  It was so mild we even had our tea outside every night which was a real treat.    Enjoy the images below.
