Another Side of Arnside

Magical Morecambe Bay

A great turnout today for another of our very popular Silverdale/Arnside area walks. These have become the Christmas tradition for our group and always attract visitors from other groups and today a few new potential members for our own group - welcome to you all if you are reading this.

With a lovely Frosty start it was a bit nippy to say the least along the Arnside Prom but as the day warmed up we were treated to clearning fog from Morecambe Bay and a warming sun as the morning progressed.

We had our usual stop at the Leighton Moss RSPB site, where a few slices of cake were enjoyed by many of us - (I don't know what they put in their fantastic cake, but I pitty any bird who accidentally gets a slice - he would never take off again!)  The cakes here were almost as good at at the November walk Craft Fair at Lothersdale - almost but not quite.

Morecambe Bay never ceases to impress with the differing view it offers on  a daily basis and for anyone who lives close by (like us) it is beguiling, hypnotic and beautiful. With the Bay, the limestone countryside and the woodland, Silverdale will never run out of walks for us all - which is great.  I am sure we will be back again in 2009.
